Guns N' Roses
   By every tangible measure the most musically successful rock band in history is not The Beatles or
   The Rolling Stones, it is Guns N' Roses:

Alice in Chains
   Goofy name, but their music is dark and serious.
   The first song on their first album is called We Die Young: 2 of the 4 band members did.
   The song we heard on the radio about the Vietnam Veteran:  Rooster
    Their iconic album Dirt, which is mostly about self-loathing and self-destruction. Good times.
    This list is mostly composed of their pop hits.

Mad Season
   Same lead singer as Alice in Chains.
   24 years ago you heard this song on the radio and liked it: I don’t know Anything

Metallica
   The 2nd most popular heavy metal band ever (behind Guns N' Roses).

    German band that has had a lot or personnel over the years and made a diverse catalog of music.
    I’m just learning that they are massively popular, there is a song on this list with 685 million hits.

Yngwei Malmsteen
    Yngwie is best without a vocalist: Here’s an instrumental list

    The band’s first lead singer was Bon Scott (who’s lower class Scotch-Australian accent takes some

      rock star who drank too much and choked to death on his own vomit (not a legend). The band’s
      next album was called Back in Black and featured the song Hell’s Bells that some American Christians
      took literally.

Queen
   This extensive
official list begins with Queens' biggest hits. If you don't like a particular song,
   try the next song because each of their songs is different. Freddie Mercury's real name
   was Farrokh Bulsara. He was from Zanzibar. Maybe your doctor knew him.
Soul Asylum
    Had one big hit: Runaway Train. You may remember Somebody to Shove. One more: Black Gold.

Steve Miller Band
   Steve Miller Band stayed together and kept making hits into the 80s (they're still at it).

   Known to rock fans as STP. Some love 'em. Some hate 'em. Decide for yourself.

George Thorogood
   Classic boogie rocker.

Barenaked Ladies
   Canadians. Very Canadian. "If I had a Million Dollars" is on this list.
Jeff Buckley
   Jeff published
one album in 1994. Great voice. In 1997 he drowned in the Mississippi river.
   The album and other recordings became popular after he died.

Leonard Cohen
   I'm not a big Cohen fan, but he kept making new music until he died at 82.

   Young singer from Ireland has had one big hit so far. He sings like Elvis.
   You've probably noticed by now that songs and their videos don't always match.
  
Take me to Church is a song about a man in a confused relationship with his girlfriend.
   The video is a protest of Homophobia. Neither the song or video is about going to church.

Mazzy Star
  They had one big hit: Fade into you.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
   They're kinda like Chicago. "The Impression that I get", The first song on this
official list, is a classic.
The National
   Very popular indie band. Their official list.
   Their most succesful song: Bloodbuzz Ohio.
R.E.M.
   The most influential and possibly most popular alternative rock band of all time.
   They were from Athens, GA.

Shawn Mullins.
   Lisa likes this guy (at least she did 20 years ago). Had one big hit: Lullaby.
Sheryl Crow
   After that she changed to a more mainstream sound:
